MDA Ride for a Cure
October 22, 2006
After much waiting, talking, planning and re-planning, we finally had our annual MDA benefit ‘Ride for a cure’. The H.O.G. club was visited twice by members of the local MDA office, Tarra Tamura first, who really helped get the benefit off to a good start, and then Tamra Hiltz, who as Regional Coordinator, took over after Tarra left, to keep us going on the right track. Thank you to Tamra for all her help in making it a success. Though later than last year, the ride was a success.
This year, the ride took us to Gateway, Co., home of the Gateway Canyons Resort which graciously hosted the event. Good food, music, and fun for all, along with a tour through the Gateway Auto Museum, which is a treat in and of itself. The day was a brisk, clear, and beautiful fall day, near perfect in every respect. The colors in the canyon were as one would expect this time of year, beautiful. All in all, it was a great ride, with good people, for a good cause.
We raised in excess of $4700.00 for MDA, had help from some of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association members, and we wish to thank them for their efforts as well. The Matarozzo family attended, along with Grandma and Great Grandpa, and a good time was had by all. I will be looking forward to the ride next year, which we will have in late May, or very early June. It is always a pleasure for me to team up with good friends, have a pleasurable time riding somewhere, and do some good for other folks in the process. Again, thanks to all who participated.
