Veteran’s Day Ceremony
Sat, Nov 11, 2006 – Veteran’s Day
It was a brisk morning in Fruita at the Vietnam War Memorial, but several HOG Members attended a ceremony to honor our Veterans. Our very own Dick Gigliotti was on stage along with a color guard from the Navajo nation and local celebrities. We were honored to have a fly-by at the start of the ceremony – breathtaking!!! They even turned around and flew back over us! It was awesome! The ceremony was a great tribute to our veterans and a new statue was unveiled reminding us all that we need to “welcome them home!”
A flag that had been flown over the memorial was given to our Western Slope HOG Group in honor of our work for veterans. Terry Edwards, director, accepted this flag and Scott Lindsay, owner of GJ Harley Davidson, agreed to hang the flag and award at the GJ Harley shop. It was a great honor for our club to get this flag. Traditional bagpipes and the release of white doves ended the program. It was a great tribute to all Veterans.
